PERMANENT CONTRIBUTIONS

The TruPrint Magazine describes itself as ‘a transparent flick through that offers wider ethical insight and acknowledgement into topics that matter’.

FREELANCE WORK

In Cathy Wilkes’ most recent exhibition, we are transported from The Hunterian in Glasgow to 1970s Belfast – from a gallery to a living room.

After Dazed put out an open-call for entries to interview Olivia Dean, my questions were chosen and I was lucky enough to chat to her over zoom.

When one thinks about pigeons, perhaps beautifully handcrafted odes and intricately sculpted memorialisation’s don’t immediately spring to mind. At Sett Studios on Leith Walk, however, the pigeon is at long last thoughtfully imagined in a multitude of contexts a true ‘pigeon themed love affair’.

These two shows speak to each other in their commitments to nature, growth, and our own interactivity with art. They are the perfect match for Jupiter Artland: a place to escape for a day, wandering around the grounds with the freedom of getting lost and finding your way again.

In a piece for Ida Tollbo’s graduate project, I produced ‘The Fruitful Rage of the South Asian Woman in Polite Society (2023)’. Here I explored how rage is presented in the film, as both spontaneous and measured, and how female rage as a concept has developed in society, and its purposes.

Peilin Shi, a multimedia artist from Lianping, China, presents her first photography exhibition. The show questions the extent to which people can reclaim a suppressed culture, the patriarchal implications that the ceremony reinforces, and Peilin’s own attitude towards it, as a migrant to the UK.

On Shame, Power and the Reclamation of Words. An exploration of how to move towards a world where female sexuality is neither shamed nor exploited.

Yumiko Ono’s work confronts the idea of ‘utopia’, presenting us with structures that evade the ideas of typical architecture.

A review of the Talbot Rice Gallery’s latest 2023 exhibition, ‘The Recent’. I drew on my knowledge of Neo-Imperialisms and the Anthropocene to critically analyse the pieces in an informative yet engaging way.

A collaborative project between the Edinburgh Literary Salon and Edinburgh Napier Publishing students, The Golden Hours brings together over thirty authors in a well-crafted bouquet of stories and poems.

INTERVIEW WITH CAMILA OSPINA GAITAN

Columbian artist Camila Ospina Gaitán works with the tricky medium of glass, melding it to suit her criticisms of the male gaze.

A review of WAVE at Japan House in London; an annual exhibition showcasing a diverse range of genres and bringing together fine art, commercial illustration and counterculture in one space.

An exploration of the resurgence of Punjabi Garage in the UK, tracing its legacy from the 1980s to the underground music scene today. My own illustration accompanies the article.
